Looking like average travelers, the Carters arrived at Perth Airport. Yet, their sharp eyes reveal someone is watching them. They realize they are being followed by Sergei Volkov, an Osprey Syndicate Mafia enforcer. Their past has come back to haunt them. Detectives James and Claudia Carter are abducted by AFP special branch agent Isabelle. She apologizes, revealing they're being targeted by the Osprey Syndicate and must adopt new identities. James assumes the identity of Andrew Miller, a park ranger. Claudia takes on the role of Sophy Howard, an art gallery manager. Hidden from view, they endeavor to adapt to their new existence. Investigating a series of break-ins, James finds a connection to the Osprey Syndicate. This results in a clash with local criminals. On Silverstone Creek, James and Sergeant Hargrove stumble upon a secret cartel operation dealing with chemical waste and opal smuggling. A local mining executive was arrested. Following the syndicate's takedown, Silverstone Creek starts to heal. As James prepares to leave the Outback, he contemplates the consequences of his actions. The Outback will always hold a special place in James's memory. He finds comfort in the justice he delivered in Silverstone Creek, despite the obstacles. James Carter repeatedly tries to leave criminal investigations behind, but keeps getting pulled back in. His wish is to quit the AFP and work as a tour guide.
